PEI through its Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program has welcomed over 2,000 new immigrants every year since 2015. Before the launch of the PNP, the province would only welcome less than 200 new immigrants per year.
For 2024, On November 30, PEI invited 69 candidates in a targeted draw for Labour and Express Entry candidates.
Here are your options for immigrating to PEI:
- PEI PNP Express Entry
- Labour Impact Category
- Business Impact Category
Requirements for PEI PNP Express Entry:
No job offer required
Application fee: CAD $300
Processing time: 6 months
Minimum Requirements:
- Must have an Express Entry profile.
- Must be qualified for the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, or Federal Skilled Trades Program. These are the three primary federal economic class immigration programs.
Different requirements for Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) holder or a spousal open work permit holder:
- PGWP must have at least four months validity when you submit your EOI.
- You must have studied outside of PEI (or be a spouse to someone who studied outside PEI)
- Must have at least nine months of work experience under a PEI employer.
How it works:
If you found yourself ready with all the requirements, then first create a profile in the Prince Edward Island Expression of Interest (EOI) system. You need to answer all the questions with all the correct information.
Based on your profile, you will receive a point score according to our selection system points grid (maximum score is 100).
Highest-scoring candidates will be invited to apply for a provincial nomination during regular draws. You’ll receive an email notification if you’re invited.
Complete the application forms and have your employer fill out the necessary forms too.
You need to submit your application within 60 days.
If approved, you’ll receive a provincial nomination and must accept it through your Express Entry account. You’ll likely receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence in the next Express Entry draw.
Requirements for Labour Impact Category:
It offers three streams. These are:
- Skilled Worker Stream
If you are currently working in PEI or have a job offer from a PEI employer, this stream is for you. It’s your chance to make your mark in the PEI workforce.
- Critical Worker Stream
This is specially for those workers, who have been already hired by a PEI employer. Also this stream allows your employer to sponsor you for permanent residence in PEI.
- International Graduate Stream
This stream is helpful for those who recently graduate from a recognized PEI university or college. With a job offer from a PEI employer, you can take the next step towards building your career and life in PEI.
The application fee is only CAD $300, and the processing time is quick – 6 months or less.
