Opportunities for Skilled Workers in Manitoba and International Graduates

On 30th November 2023, Manitoba had invited a total of 268 candidates in the Skilled Worker in Manitoba, International Graduate, and Skilled Workers Overseas streams of the MPNP.

Manitoba International Education Stream:

The International Education Stream (IES) offers three dedicated pathways to international graduates. These are the graduate internship pathway, career employment pathway and the international student entrepreneur pilot.

  1. Graduate Internship Pathway:

If you have a master’s or doctoral degree from a Manitoba post-secondary institution, you could qualify for the Graduate Internship Pathway. This pathway is designed to promote innovation in the province. You can apply even if you don’t have a job offer.

Eligibility for the Graduate Internship Pathway:

  • Completed a master’s or doctoral degree program in Manitoba within the past 3 years
  • Language proficiency: CLB 7
  • Employed in a full-time, long-term position in Manitoba or have sufficient funds
  • When applying, you must reside in Manitoba.
  1. Career Employment Pathway:

Are you an international graduate looking for long-term employment in Manitoba? The Career Employment Pathway is perfect for you. It prioritizes candidates in in-demand occupations that match their educational credentials and training.

Eligibility for the Career Employment Pathway:

  • Graduated from a designated post-secondary institution within the past 3 years
  • Language proficiency: CLB 7
  • Currently working full-time in Manitoba with a minimum one-year contract.
  • Employed in a full-time, long-term position in Manitoba.
  • Residing in Manitoba at the time of application.
  1. International Student Entrepreneur Pilot:

The International Student Entrepreneur Pilot is your opportunity for those people who want to start their own business in Manitoba. Each year, up to 20 international students who have graduated in Manitoba can pursue and establish a business in Manitoba on a temporary work permit.

Eligibility for the Student Entrepreneur Pathway:

  • You must have a minimum of 6 months of working experience as a senior manager in Manitoba.
  • Language proficiency: CLB 7
  • Age between 21-35
  • You must have a completion certificate of a full-time post-secondary program in Manitoba for at least two (2) years.
  • Valid work permit.
  • Independent financial resources for a six-month period.

Skilled Worker in Manitoba Category

To be eligible as a skilled worker in Manitoba category the candidates must have the minimum requirements.

Qualification:

Candidates must be an international graduate student. They should have all the necessary documents. Such as any license or certification or any training or education certificate.

Education:

International graduate students must have completed their education or training from a public or registered institution in Manitoba. That course program must be full time at least one academic year in length.

Employment:

Candidates must show a proof of their full time job offer letter of their current organization in Manitoba. The work duration should not be less than 6 months. If that organization is unauthorized or the work continues with a full-time study, that will be not considered.

Work permit:

Candidates should have a valid work permit from IRCC. A post-graduate work permit is also valid.

Language proficiency:

Candidates must speak and write in both English and French.

Settlement Plan:

Candidates must have a proper reason to settle down in Manitoba.

Settlement funds:

Candidates need to show sufficient funds not less than $10,000 CAD. The additional amount is 2,000 CAD if there is any dependent.

Skilled Worker Overseas Category

This category is for those qualified skilled workers who belong to outside of Canada, but want to make a connection to this province. 

To be eligible, the candidates must have these minimum requirements.

  • The minimum score must be 60.
  • Must have a strong connection to Manitoba. Such as friends, family, any work experience or education.
  • To prove your connection of Manitoba experience, you must have lived as a temporary worker or as an international student in the province.
  • Your education must be from a public or registered institution.
  • Age should be from 21 to 45.
