Date of Draw: December 08, 2023 at 03:02:52 UTC
Number of Invitations Issued: 5,900

Second STEM Category-Specific Draw
The latest Express Entry draw, number 274, released 5,900 invitations to apply for permanent residence in Canada, targeting candidates with a minimum CRS score of 481. This draw was specifically aimed at STEM occupations, meaning that only candidates with work experience in qualifying fields such as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics were eligible for selection.
This week has seen an unbroken sequence of three draws, a departure from the lack of draws during November. The most recent draw focused on assessing proficiency in the French language (2023-1), inviting 1,000 hopefuls. Candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 470 or higher were eligible, and all profiles in the Express Entry pool met this criterion.
When we compare today’s draw with the previous one for the “STEM Occupations (2023-1)” category, which took place on July 5, 2023, where only 500 invitations were issued, and the CRS score was higher (requiring a minimum of 486 points), we observe that the number of invitations in today’s draw is much higher (5,900 issued invitations), even though the score is lower. This indicates that since July, more than 5000 applicants have managed to attain the minimum required score for this category and have successfully met the requirements set by IRCC.
