What is the National Innovation Visa?
The National Innovation Visa is designed to attract highly skilled individuals who can positively impact Australia’s economy and society. It has two pathways:
- National Innovation Pathway: For individuals with exceptional achievements in priority sectors:
- Resources
- Agri-food and AgTech
- Energy
- Health industries
- Defence, advanced manufacturing, and space
- Circular economy
- Digitech
- Infrastructure and tourism
- Financial services and FinTech
- Education
- Distinguished Talent Pathway: For individuals with exceptional achievements in sports, arts, or academia and research.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Demonstrate exceptional achievements in their field
- Be nominated by an eligible Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, or Australian organisation
- Prove their skills will significantly benefit Australia’s economy and society
- Pass a health assessment
Benefits
- Permanent residency in Australia
- Work and study rights
- Access to Medicare
- Ability to bring eligible family members
- Citizenship eligibility (if requirements are met)
- Travel freely for five years, then apply for a Resident Return Visa (RRV)
