The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) administered by Alberta, offers the Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway. This pathway allows specific Express Entry candidates with a job offer in Alberta’s tech sector or an eligible tech role to apply for expedited provincial nomination.
Candidates who meet the requirements of both the Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway and the Alberta Express Entry stream may qualify for faster processing.
Nominees under this pathway will receive a work permit support letter, allowing them to apply for a temporary work permit. They will also gain the opportunity to apply for Canadian permanent residency.
Job Offer Requirements
Eligible job offers must fall under one of 38 high-demand tech occupations or be from an Alberta-based company in a recognized tech sector.
The employment offer or contract must be signed by both the employer and the applicant, specifying job details. The position must be full-time, continuous, and for at least 12 months. Compensation must meet or exceed Alberta’s minimum wage and comply with any applicable LMIA requirements. If no LMIA is available, the salary must be at or above the industry’s starting wage for that occupation in Alberta.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria for Alberta’s Express Entry program.
Additionally, applicants must either be employed in one of the 38 high-demand tech occupations outlined by the AAIP or hold a valid job offer from an Alberta-based tech company.

Application Process
The Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway aligns with Alberta’s Express Entry stream. Candidates must first confirm that their industry or National Occupation Classification (NOC) code matches one of the 38 in-demand occupations. Once eligibility is established, applicants submit their Express Entry profile details, job offer, and employer information to the AAIP. Alberta will then assess the submission and invite qualified candidates to apply for provincial nomination.
Applications under this pathway are processed more quickly. Successful nominees must accept the provincial nomination through their Express Entry profile, earning an additional 600 CRS points. These extra points significantly increase their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency through the Express Entry system.
