Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190) Criteria
The Subclass 190 – Skilled Nominated visa, allows living and working in Australia as a permanent resident. Where you need to be nominate by the state or territory government. The nomination triggers the visa invitation from the Department of Home Affairs
Two Year Commitment: If nominated by ACT to apply for a 190 visa, then it is mandatory to work in Canberra for at least two years from the visa grant to the date of arrival ( for overseas)

- Qualifications

The Canberra Matrix is weight such that applicants who will have a positive contribution economically to the Territory. Applicant demonstrating a genuine commitment to the ACT are more likely to be rank and invited to apply for ACT nomination.
ACT 190 Nomination (Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190)) – Overseas Application eligibility:
As an overseas resident if you are thinking of applying for ACT 190 Nomination for a Skilled Nomination i.e Permanent visa – Subclass 190, then you must meet the following criteria of the date you are submitting the Canberra matrix
- Department of Home Affairs Criteria:
You must meet the relevant Department of Home Affairs Criteria and can apply for your visa. You must satisfy that criterion at the date when you register your Canberra Matrix and continue to do so up to the date when you have been nominate by the ACT.
- This also includes having a valid English test and/or a Skill Assessment.
- Your English test and Skill Assessment must be current at the date of Canberra Matrix submission
- Nominated occupation: Check if you fall under the ACT Critical Skills list for your nominated occupation.
- Related overseas work experience:
- Three years of full-time experience
- Post-graduation experience in nominated occupation in the last five years
- The work experience you possess must be assess as relevant
- English:
Your proficiency in English should be meet by the department of home affairs requirements as proficient or superior in English unless your nominated occupation is chef 351311 (has an ANZSCO skill level of 3 to 5)
- ACT employability:
You have conducted research into the ACT labour market and are satisfied that you are employable in Canberra and that your background is relevant to the ACT economy.

- Commitment to Canberra:
You have researched Canberra and you need to be committed to living in the ACT.
The documents that need to be attached:
- Commitment statement to the application stating your interest and why you choose to live in Canberra in your own words.
- Signing the declaration stating the commitment to living and working in Canberra for at least 2 years from the date of arrival in Australia.
- Residency:
You and any dependents (with the exception of children who are enrolled in ACT schools) must be living outside Australia. In order to be considered for ACT nomination under the 190 visa you must not have been resident in Australia for the last 12 months. The should not held any current Australian visa (or bridging visa), other than an Australian visitor visa.
- Settlement funds:
You have to demonstrate that you have sufficient funds to settle in Canberra. For Canberra Matrix points for spouse or partner, you will be needs to provide proof of the relationship. The proof may including your marriage or civil union certificate.
If an existing relation certificate is not offered through law in your country of origin, a de facto relationship can be accepted without it.
Matters related to spouse/partner employment They must meet the requirement of proficient English. The requirement given by the Department of Home Affairs or be an Australian passport holder
