What is the Critical Skills Work Visa?
The Critical Skills Work Visa is for people who have special skills that are needed in South Africa. The government has a list of these skills, called the Critical Skills List. If your job or profession is on this list, you can apply for this visa.
Key Benefits of the South Africa Critical Skills Work Visa
- You can move to South Africa without having a job offer.
- The visa is valid for 12 months initially, giving you time to find a job.
- Once you get a job, the visa can be extended for up to 5 years as a Critical Skills Work Permit.
- You don’t need a Department of Labour Certificate to apply.
- You can include your spouse and dependent children on this visa.
- To qualify, your current job must be listed on the Critical Skills List published by South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs.
- This visa also gives you a chance to apply for permanent residency later, if you meet certain conditions.
