If you’re applying for an Australian visa, watch out for fake migration agents who try to trick and take advantage of people.

These scams often happen on social media. Fake agents :

• Charge high fees
• Use false documents
• Make false promises
• Encourage you to work illegally in Australia

In Australia, only these people can legally give immigration advice for money:

• A registered migration agent with the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA)
• An Australian legal practitioner

How to Check If an Agent Is Registered?

• Ask for their Migration Agents Registration Number (MARN)
• Verify their MARN using the OMARA website
