If you’re thinking about moving, studying, or working in another country, we brought some really important news!
UK’s New Rules: Getting Tougher for Immigrants
The United Kingdom is making big changes to its immigration rules starting July 22, 2025. They want fewer people moving there. Here’s what’s new:
- Higher Pay Needed: If you want to work in the UK, your job needs to pay more. The new basic pay for a Skilled Worker visa is now £41,700 (it was £38,700).
- Jobs Need More Skill: Most jobs offered must be at a university degree level.
- New “Shortage” Jobs List: There’s a new list of jobs the UK really needs (like certain critical workers). But, people on this list cannot bring their families with them.
- No More Overseas Care Workers: UK employers can no longer hire care workers from other countries using the Skilled Worker visa.
- Student Visa Changes: Universities will be watched more closely. Also, the popular Graduate Visa (which lets students stay after studying) is expected to be cut from two years to just 18 months.
- Longer Wait for Permanent Stay? They are also thinking about making you wait longer (10 years instead of 5) to get permanent residency in the UK.
USA Visas & Green Cards: Some Good, Some Not So Good
The United States is still a top spot, but there are some important things to know:
- Faster US Visa Appointments: There are ways to get your US visa appointment sooner, like looking for cancellations or asking for a fast-track.
- US Says: Follow the Rules! The US government is making it clear that if you get a visa, you must follow their laws. If you don’t, they can take your visa away.
- “U Visa” Problems: Some people are being caught faking crimes to get “U visas” (which are for victims of crime).
- Long Green Card Waits for Indians: If you’re from India and waiting for a US Green Card, the wait times are getting longer. There are now over 11 million cases in line!
- Good News for EB-5 Investors from India: If you’re an Indian investor using the EB-5 visa, your wait time has moved ahead by six months for August 2025.
Canada: Good news if you want to bring your family to Canada!
Canada is still making it easier for families to be together and for skilled people to move there:
- Super Visa for Parents: If your parents or grandparents want to visit you in Canada, the Super Visa lets them stay for up to 5 years at a time, and they can come and go for 10 years!
- Parents & Grandparents to Get PR: Canada will invite 17,860 sponsors (from a 2020 list) to bring their parents or grandparents to Canada as permanent residents. This starts July 28, 2025.
Around the World: Other Visa Updates
- Germany Freelance Visa for Indians: If you’re from India and work in fields like IT, media, or law, you might be able to get a visa to work for yourself in Germany! You need about around $1,500 USD saved up.
- New Zealand Student Visa Changes: Starting November 3, 2025, students in New Zealand can work 25 hours a week (more than before). This makes New Zealand a more attractive place to study.
- Visa Rejections in UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia: People are getting visas rejected in these countries more often for simple mistakes like typos, old passports, or not enough money in the bank.
- Bahrain Golden Visa: Bahrain has a new 10-year visa for professionals, retired people, and those who buy property there.
- Indonesia Cracks Down: Some foreigners in Indonesia were sent home because they didn’t follow the rules of their visa.
