The new system will start from <strong>5 October 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The <strong>New Zealand Parent Resident Visa<\/strong> allows eligible New Zealand citizens and residents to sponsor their parents to live in New Zealand.<\/p>\n<h2>What Is Changing?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">From 5 October 2026, Immigration New Zealand will use a new <strong>hybrid selection system<\/strong> for Parent Resident Visa Expressions of Interest (EOIs).<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Under the new system:<\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Around <strong>90% of EOIs<\/strong> will be selected based on the date they were submitted.<\/li>\n<li>Around <strong>10% of EOIs<\/strong> will be selected through a ballot.<\/li>\n<li>The yearly limit will remain at <strong>2,500 Parent Resident Visas<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Existing EOI holders will automatically move to the new system.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants will not need to submit a new EOI.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">This new system is expected to make the <strong>New Zealand Parent Visa<\/strong> selection process more predictable while still giving new applicants a chance to be selected.<\/p>\n<h2>Important Dates for New Zealand Parent Visa<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">There are three important dates to remember:<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">From <strong>11 August 2026 &#8211; <\/strong>The next selection will take place under the current system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">From <strong>5 October 2026 &#8211; <\/strong>\u00a0The new hybrid EOI selection system will begin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">From <strong>10 November 2026 &#8211; <\/strong>\u00a0The first selection under the new system is expected to take place.<\/p>\n<h2>What Happens to Existing EOIs?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">If you already have an EOI in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.immigration.govt.nz\/about-us\/news-centre\/changes-to-the-parent-resident-visa-category\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>New Zealand Parent Resident Visa<\/strong><\/a> pool, you do not need to submit a new one.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Applicants who have continuously maintained their EOI will generally keep their position based on the date their original EOI was accepted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Immigration New Zealand will provide more information about queue positions after the new system starts.<\/p>\n<h2>Question &#8211; Will Parent Visa EOIs Expire?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Answer &#8211; Under the current system, an EOI normally expires after two years if it is not selected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Under the new system, EOIs will <strong>not automatically expire after two years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">However, applicants will need to confirm every two years that they still want to remain in the EOI pool. They must also keep their information updated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">There will be <strong>no extra fee<\/strong> for this confirmation.<\/p>\n<h2>Question &#8211; Are the Parent Resident Visa Requirements Changing?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Answer &#8211; No. The main <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/feder_path_consultants\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>New Zealand Parent Resident Visa requirements<\/strong> <\/a>are not changing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The changes only affect how EOIs are selected for an <strong>Invitation to Apply (ITA)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The Parent Resident Visa is still a two-step process:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\" data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).<\/li>\n<li>If selected and eligible, receive an Invitation to Apply and submit the residence application.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Question &#8211; How Many Parent Visas Are Available?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Answer &#8211; New Zealand can approve up to <strong>2,500 Parent Resident Visas each financial year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">There are more applicants than available places, so some families may still have to wait before their EOI is selected.<\/p>\n<h2>What Does This Mean for Parents?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The new system may make the <a href=\"https:\/\/federpath.com\/newzealand-work-visa-consultants-in-hyderabad\"><strong>New Zealand Parent Visa<\/strong><\/a> selection process easier to understand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Around 90% of applicants will be selected based on their position in the queue, while around 10% will have a chance through the ballot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">However, being selected does not automatically mean the visa will be approved.
